hey there!
my name is mengwe, and I am a Camroonian multi-hyphenate artist. born in Germany and raised in New York City, I spent most of my life dancing, and planned on pursuing it as a career--that is, until I took a drama class in 7th grade, and discovered *insert dramatic voice here* the theatre. I crashed out for a while, because I was convinced that I would have to choose between either a dancing or an acting career. the musical theatre gods weren’t having that though. our drama class was taken to see Annie on Broadway, and I fell head over heels in love with musical theatre.
due to me attending a math and science high school, I lost sight of my Broadway dreams, til the arts brought me out of a really dark place during my junior year. my passion for the arts was reignited, and I immediately started looking for ways to learn and grow as a performer. I started acting training at the Stella Adler Studio in NYC, and after earning a BFA in Acting for Film and Television from Pace University (’23), went on to pursue my MFA in Acting at UNC Chapel Hill’s Professional Actor Training Program (’26)

the performing arts saved my life. I know that there are so many people out there who need them, too, and my mission in life is to bring the arts to communities and youth that need them the most. to use the arts as a vessel for human connection and understanding, and to tell stories that inspire people, change lives, and foster empathy for ourselves and others.

sidenote, I also identify as a raging book/play nerd, a museum enthusiast, an avid hiker, and a fitness fanatic. if I'm not reading every play on the shelves of The Drama Bookshop or making up choreo to a dance break of some musical theatre song, you can probably find me playing board games, trivia, and/or DND with my homies <3
